Parameters
Open in the editor opens the design with these defaults; change them afterwards in Modify › Parameters, and everything that depends on them follows. Opened from the editor’s template library instead (New ▾ › New from template…), the template asks for its values first and checks them against these ranges and against each other, and Copy link gives an address that opens it with your values.
| Name | What it sets | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
W | Inside width (long dividers) | 200 mm | 80 to 500 mm, steps of 1 |
D | Inside depth (short dividers) | 150 mm | 80 to 500 mm, steps of 1 |
H | Divider height | 50 mm | 20 to 150 mm, steps of 1 |
cellsX | Cells across | 4 | 2 to 10, steps of 1 |
cellsY | Cells deep | 3 | 2 to 10, steps of 1 |
thickness | Material thickness | 3 mm | 1.5 to 6 mm, steps of 0.1 |
kerf | Kerf compensation | 0 mm | 0 to 0.4 mm, steps of 0.01 |
Notes
Dividers that slot into each other halfway - an egg crate - to drop into a drawer or a box. Long dividers have slots cut up from their bottom edge, short ones slots cut down from their top edge, one slot at every cell boundary.
W and D are the inside size of the drawer or box (less a millimetre or so, so the insert drops in). Cells across and Cells deep set the grid: cut (cells deep - 1) long dividers and (cells across - 1) short ones - the model shows all of them in place.
Enter the thickness you measure. Kerf narrows the slots by the laser's cut width: 0 for parts that slide together, the real kerf (about 0.1 to 0.2 mm) for a tight grid that holds without glue.
Export the Long divider and Short divider sketches with Save As DXF (right-click the sketch) and cut each as many times as above.
